What type of visa do I need? Students from most countries can easily obtain a visitor's visa which allows them to stay in Canada for up to 6 months.
Student Visa Students who wish to study long term must obtain a student visa. This may require a medical examination and proof of sufficient funds. Student visas cannot be obtained in Canada, but can be obtained from the Canadian Embassy in your country or at the Canadian Consulate in Seattle. |
Who can apply? To be eligible for a work permit, you must meet the following conditions:
- You must have a valid study permit.
- Your intended employment must be an essential part of your program of study in Canada.
- Your employment must be part of your academic program, certified by a letter from a responsible academic official of the institution.
- Your co-op or internship employment cannot form more than 50 percent of the total program of study.
